Kochanski records favorite classics for PianoDisc
April 09, 2004

One of PianoDisc’s most popular artists, Wladimir Jan Kochanski, is back with a second PianoDisc recording entitled, Artist Series: Wladimir Jan Kochanski: Your Favorite Classics (PD/CD 3037 in the Classical category).

A Juilliard graduate, Kochanski studied for almost six years with two of the world's most famous and respected teachers, Rosina Lhevinne and Eduard Steuermann.   Lhevinne (who was also Van Cliburn’s teacher at the time) described Kochanski as “a dazzling pianist reminiscent of the masters.”

Today, with a professional career spanning more than 30 years, the charismatic Kochanski continues to delight audiences with his unique concert presentations.  In addition to masterful interpretations of the music, Kochanski offers insightful and humorous narration---bringing the music of the master composers to life.

“People naturally respond to Wladimir’s technical virtuosity and powerful interpretations, but even more to his passion for the music.  It’s apparent from every note he plays and every comment he makes that this music is his life.  Hearing an artist play with that kind of love and dedication is a thrilling experience,” commented PianoDisc’s Director of Music, Jan Glazier.

For Your Favorite Classics, Kochanski recorded some of his favorite classics. They’re pieces that are often requested at his concerts and that he delights in playing.  As he explains in the new disc’s liner notes, “The music recorded here includes some of the most famous and loved pieces ever written for the piano.  They have stood the test of time, and their audience has increased with each passing year.”

Included on the disk are Chopin’s Aeolian Harp Etude and Fantasie Impromptu, Liszt‘s Liebestraum, Lecouna’s Andalucia and Malaguena, and Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata.
